Ontario's funding formula is short changing students

Take Action to Make Our Schools Safe!

Keeping our schools safe for students and staff must be a top priority for all of us.

In a recent survey, Ontario’s public elementary teachers said that the number and severity of violent incidents is increasing. They also said that front line support workers are lacking for students with high risk behaviours.

For many students, learning is being disrupted and we can’t allow that to continue. For too long, our schools have been under-resourced because Ontario’s education funding formula does not reflect the actual needs of students. School boards need:

  • more funds for special education;
  • more mental health supports for students; and
  • more front line supports such as educational assistants, child and youth workers, social workers, school support counsellors, psychologists, speech-language pathologists and others.

It’s time to fix the education funding formula so that students with behavioural issues can get the early assessments, access to front line support workers and other services that they need to succeed.

Join the lobby to press the government to fix the funding formula! You can start by sending a letter to your MPP.
