The Conservative government recently indicated that it may consider changes to full-day Kindergarten (FDK). In comments to the media, the Minister of Education and the Premier stated that full-day learning will be in place next year but would not comment on the future of the program beyond that.
Parents, students and educators know that full-day Kindergarten has lasting benefits for students. In addition, families rely on full-day Kindergarten to ensure their children learn in a safe and nurturing environment.
The current model of a teacher and Designated Early Childhood Educator (DECE) in the classroom provides the best education for our earliest learners.
