Add Your Name: Education Cuts are Hurting Kids in Ontario

Six Years of Cuts: The Numbers Tell the Story

The Ontario government’s education funding formula has a new name, but the most important aspect of it has not changed: funding for schools still does not keep up with inflation.

At a time when there are so many unmet student needs – especially those with special needs or seeking mental health support – as well as growing problems like violence in schools, funding should be increasing, not decreasing.

The cuts add up. Probably the most striking result of the cuts is this: there would be 5000 more classroom educators today if the Ford government had not made so many cuts over the years.

I am calling on the Ontario government to put kids first. Reverse the education funding cuts, fix the teacher shortage, and make sure all students have the support they need to thrive.
